IEEE / 4Science / BeringWaters 2022 thesis competition
HONG KONG, May 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Continuing its work to build Poland’s blockchain sector, Bering Waters University, a program of the Bering Waters Group, is partnering with the 4 Science Institute in a graduate thesis competition “Engineer 4 Science 2022” aimed at leading local universities and organized under the patronage of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Poland Section, GovTech Poland and Alumni Association of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at the Warsaw University of Technology .
Through the competition, Bering Waters University’s goal is to identify promising graduates who aspire to a career in blockchain software engineering to join its vision.
Bering Waters University is a program designed to train recent graduates for software engineering careers to become blockchain experts. The first iteration of the program, launched in Poland, is focused on the Solana ecosystem for the development of smart contracts and platforms. Shortlisted candidates who successfully complete the purpose-built training curriculum are offered the opportunity to work in the Solana ecosystem. While working in the fields of specialization chosen throughout the course, graduates will be involved in some of the most exciting projects in the industry.
“Education is the first step towards developing cutting-edge projects and businesses and we want to use this thesis competition as an opportunity to encourage talented graduates to consider careers in the blockchain industry.” said Michael Weinrub, Bering Waters’ chief technology officer. “Making top Polish students more aware of the opportunities available today for software engineering and computer science majors is an excellent way to foster future talent and drive blockchain adoption.”
Bering Waters Group has submitted open positions to all thesis contest participants, allowing them to apply for the Bering Waters University program as Junior Software Engineers. In addition, the group publicized new opportunities for graduates from the region, including roles in analysis, business development and project management.
It is the fifth competition of its kind, initially launched in 2018. The 4 Science Institute and its supporters are promoting the competition across Poland at 23 strategically specialized universities in engineering, science and technology training. Hundreds of theses on the most compelling developments in the technology sector, competing in the competition, demonstrate the untapped potential of the region’s technological talent. The aim of the competition is to provide practical opportunities to the most talented graduates and to identify ideas ready to be implemented on the market.
“Since our founding in 1972, one of the main goals of IEEE Poland has been to provide a harmonious interaction between universities and private sectors, and this competition is a cornerstone of that sentiment,“said Prof. Dr hab. inż. Adam Dąbrowski, president of the IEEE Poland section.”We are delighted that Bering Waters has chosen to become one of the two largest partners in the competition this year and is thrilled to receive some of the most innovative ideas from graduate students across Poland, which will lead to their inclusion in the emerging technology industry verticals.“
Bering Waters has selected a total of eight departments across seven universities located in major cities and technology centers in line with its vision. Bering Waters has been announced as a Business Partner for the Engineer 4 Science 2022 competition at the following universities:
Specialization in Computer Science at the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Science of the Warsaw University of Technology
Specialization in Computer Science and Information Systems at the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Sciences of the Warsaw University of Technology
Specialization in Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Nicolaus Copernicus University of Toruń
Specialization in Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań
Specialization in Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Wroclaw
Faculty of Informatics and Telecommunications at the Poznań University of Technology
Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology
Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications at the AGH University of Science and Technology
The sponsorship of Bering Waters aims to introduce a new competition for Blockchain and related technologies in addition to the existing categories in Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Systems and Cybersecurity.
Bering Waters is Diamond Sponsor, along with Intel, the competition’s biggest benefactors. Other major sponsors include Samsung, Philips and Nordea.
Bering Waters is committed to expanding the scale and use of blockchain technology through a number of initiatives, including targeted investments, commercial activities and internal projects. Bering Waters is also supporting mentoring programs to grow Poland’s blockchain workforce and prepare local entrepreneurs for success on the global stage.
For example: In addition to sponsoring the thesis competition, Bering Waters recently awarded a $ 30,000 prize to a team of blockchain engineers in Poland for developing a peer-to-peer system for exchanging digital assets, called Invariant. Bering Waters sponsored the award for highlighting Poland’s best entry into a global competition for blockchain developers, the Solana Riptide Hackathon.
